I loved you not too long ago
My heart gently placed you
on a pedestal
You remained there
and could do no wrong
How beautifully we belonged
Then the pavement cracked
and I found myself
straddling both sides
trying to decide which was right
watching where my heartbeat landed
My mind was stranded
somewhere in the middle
where nothing made sense
and two and two made five
I was alive
but my time was up
I had to choose
and lose a part of me
Though forever
our love didn’t last
you will always
be a vision from my past
Maybe down the road
our lives might chance to mingle
and we could feel that hold
Just a slight tingle again

Wow, my heart jumped just to see a new post from you after all this time. And then, my heart really felt your words here. Beautiful poem Lauren! You’ve been missed. I hope you are well my friend
Thanks, Scott, it’s good to be back, even at a slower pace. You truly have a way with words and I’ve missed you and many of my blogging friends, so it’s time to read again! Take care, too! xx
Oh Lauren, it’s so wonderful to see a new post. I miss you so much. I am hoping you are doing better. Your poem is very heartfelt. I always believe writing is our key to healing. Lots of love and many hugs !
Thanks so much, Autumn, and I’ve missed you and Gaby, too, thinking of you both often. I haven’t written in 3 months, so I’m a little nervous again, but here’s to diving in. I’m okay, but I’ll email more in detail. Writing is the key to healing and I couldn’t agree with you more, but when our world was turned upside down, I felt like anything I wrote would be sad and depressing. So, instead, I was paralyzed. Anyway, it’s a new year and I’m trying to change my mentality. I hope you both are doing better, too! Love and oodles of hugs to you, too! xo
I know what you mean, Lauren. Sometimes when our world is turned upside down, we need a break. Don’t worry about your writing 🙂 even sad and depressing is OK. I hope this new year is a better one, too. Things with Gabby and me are going good. We did have a scare with our Mom’s health. She a bit better now, but it was such a worry. Hugs coming back to you and lots of love 🙂 xo
Thanks, again, Autumn! Gaby emailed me, so I’ll respond tonight or tomorrow…I’m glad things are better and after losing my Mom last year, I can feel for you and taking care of your Mom…Talk soon, xoxo 🙂
I’m so happy to see you posting. This is a beautiful poem and I sense a new door of the heart opening in these words . . . In His Love, Martha
Thanks so much, Martha, and I’ve missed you all, too! This poem is actually fiction, derived from a generic past, so all is good in my heart, just so you know. It was in my pending file and I pulled it out, made some changes, asked my sister to edit and hoped it would be okay to post. Blessings to you, my friend, and I wish you a blessed new year.
Lauren, a poignant and beautiful poem – and how wonderful to see you here again, you have been missed very much! Wishing you all the best for a wonderful new year filled with peace, love and light. ~ Love and hugs from Julie xoxox
Thanks, Julie, it has been awhile and I’ve missed you, too, and your beautiful poetry! I wish you the same, also, and I hope you’re doing well in every aspect. Lots of love and hugs back atcha! xoxo
Sadly beautiful Lauren. Happy to see you back. 🙂
Thanks so much, Kim; glad to be back! It may not be at the same speed, so please have patience, but I look forward to reading your writing again! Hugs and lots of love!
Sad and well written.
I’m glad to see you’ve posted again, Lauren. I’ve missed you, and am hoping things are well on your end of things.
Much love…xxx
Thanks, Deb, I’ve missed you, too! Hope you and your hubby are happy and healthy! Lots of love and hugs to you! xoxo
Lauren it is good to see you here!
This is so melancholy, but beautifully written
I love that sense of hope and optimism in the last stanza:)
Love
christine xxx
Thanks, Christine, it took a lot of thought to return, but once the new year arrived, my mind felt better…I’m a little nervous about writing, since that part has been on hold, but I’ll just do it and hope for the best. This is fiction and was pending, so I finished it, after having my sis edit it. It’s funny how last year I couldn’t finish it for the life of me and two days ago, I made changes and it just clicked. Whether it’s good or not, well, who knows, but I’m glad it has been liked. I can’t wait to visit you, too, and get back into the routine, albeit, a little slower. Love and hugs to you! xoxox
Big hugs my friend. It is so wonderful to see you and I will continue to pray hard. Love your poetry! ♥ Renee 🙂
Thanks, Renee, for your constant support! Hugs to you, too, and more prayers are wonderful! xoxo 🙂
YOU are so welcome. 🙂
Lauren – so delighted to see you posting. I read your poem. It tells me you are in a difficult space. My thoughts are with you. With concern. Virginia
Thanks so much, Virginia, and I have to tell you that this poem is purely fiction. Although, I’m sure we all can relate in our lives at some time. But my hubby and I are nearing our 24th this month, so all is good. I added that note to the bottom of the poem, which is what I normally do, but had forgotten. Anyway, thanks for your concern and I hope you’re doing well and Happy New Year, too! xoxo
A very very happy New Year Lauren – to both you and your husband. It is a testimony to your quality of writing that had a few of us concerned. XXOO V.,
Thanks, Virginia, your words really make me feel good, since it’s been so long since I’ve written. xoxoxo
Lauren- Just as beautiful as ever. Luv ya, Dad
Thanks, Dad! Love ya, too! xoxo
Oh dear how this reminds me of somebody, thank you for the truth inside it x
Thanks so much, Pamela, but I hope I didn’t stir up any bad feelings, too. xx
Anytime, and I’m pretty sure he didn’t love me back
I think I’m good, and it wouldn’t be your fault if it did – you needn’t apologise for writing something beautiful
thanks 🙂 xx
Well, I’m glad you’re doing okay and thank you for your kind, encouraging words…I worry too much! I need to conquer that this year, but there is more serious stuff to worry about, which is why I’ve been away for awhile, so I’m not sure about succeeding! Anyway, thanks again and take care! xoxo
Lauren 0 Just as beautiful as ever; glad that you’re back on blogging. Luv ya, Dad
Thanks again, Dad! You always make me feel good with your supportive words! Luv ya, too!

Very beautiful – tender and heartbreaking and hopeful all in a lyrical breath, Lauren. So glad you are back and wishing you healing and blessings in 2013! Love and hugs, Diane
Thanks, Diane, and I truly love your description…tender, heartbreaking and hopeful in a lyrical breath. That is a big complement since I feel as though my creativity chip has been deleted! Thank you, my friend, and the same wishes to you this year! Lots of love and hugs! xoxo
Happy to see a post from you Lauren, praying you will continue blogging when you are up to it because you have been so missed. This poem is beautiful and sad, too but sometimes life is… Lots of Love, Hugs and support being sent your way!
Thanks again, Gaby..I’m happy to be back, though maybe slower and I’m also happy to see you both back, too. I’ll be reading your email soon, also! I appreciate your love, hugs and support and am sending them back to you, too! xoxo
My heart danced so very happily because of your return…and your words so enchantingly filled my mind…sad at first as i began to read, but joyfull at the end. You weave a hauntingly beautiful poem Lauren! Much love to you dear sister! God bless! And thanks for sharing your heart’s life-light again!
Oh, Wendell, your words make my heart dance, too! Thanks for your wonderful comment upon my return. I’m a little nervous about writing again, since it’s been awhile, but I look forward to it and to reading all the beautiful poetry and friends I have missed, You, to name one! Blessings to you, too, my brother and a very Happy New Year! xx
Great to see you back, Lauren and so strong too 🙂
Thanks so much, Martin, and it’s good to be back. Life is still a little shaky, but it’s a new year and time for new changes and mind sets. I’ve missed you all! I hope you’re doing well! 🙂
What a wonderful surprise to see a poem from you again! It is good to see you back again, Lauren, you have been missed. Beautiful and bittersweet poem, a place many of us have been. Take your time dear Lauren, but you know there is healing to be found in writing and treading poetry no matter how rocky the road of Life.
Love and hugs from across the miles,
Francina xoxo .
Thanks so much, Francina, you have been missed, too, and I’m glad to be back, even at a slower pace. In the past three months, I couldn’t even write; I was basically paralyzed…and although I’m nervous, maybe it’s time to dive into this hobby again. You’ve been such a wonderful friend, Francina, and I’ll be over to see you soon. I hope you’ve been well and I wish you a wonderful new year. I’d love to email you and fill you in, if you don’t mind. Please let me know…love and hugs back to you, Lauren xoxo
Of course you may e-mail me, Lauren. Just use the one you see in the link by my comment , or use the contact form on my blog ( is the same e-mail address) Would love to hear from you!
love and hugs,
Francina

I’m so glad you’re back too!! Betty asked about you, when we spoke recently–I let her know that you’d be here, as you have time. God bless you and the family–love, sis Caddo
Thanks so much, Sis! Is Betty blogging again, too? I’ll visit her blog and let her know I’m back and I do hope she’s okay, also! Blessings back to you, my friend…xoxo
Lauren, it’s so good to see you back. I am glad this is fiction! Still, I know there is something you’ve been through that has been difficult and hope you are finding peace. Much love, Peg
Thanks so much, Peg, and I’ve found peace, but at a new level. There will still be bumps in the road, but we’re praying for a miracle, as there is plenty of time…I can’t open up publicly, but I do appreciate your love and support. I hope you’re doing well, too, and wish you a blessed new year. xoxo
Great to see you back here Lauren! An excellent poem to mark your return xx
Thanks so much, Christy, and it’s good to see you again, too! xx
Feeling autobiographical here with you… :-). Thanks for coming back. I will take as much writing, or as little, as you can muster. Take your time… even better things are coming.
Thanks, Lisa, you are so kind! I appreciate your encouragement and your kind words! I hope you’re doing well and wish you a wonderful new year! 🙂

Thanks so much, Sheila, and virtual hugs are good, too! 🙂 I’m glad to be “seeing” you again, also, and beginning a new year! Wishing you the same, as well, my friend! xoxo
Reblogged this on Ecodelphinus.com.
Thanks so much, WDC, for reblogging! I appreciate it very much and am glad you enjoyed this poem! I’ll be over to visit you soon!
echoed a note from the past
days that were not to last
shores search for bridge that join
chances – as good as toss of a coin !!
Beautiful words, thank you for sharing and for your visit!
Good to have you back my poet friend. Just write whatever: happy, sad; it doesn’t matter to us because we love your heartfelt words.
Oh, Sandra, thank you so much! I’ve missed you and this virtual world and am glad to be back, even at a slower pace. I hope you’re hanging in there, too!
My dear Lauren, many a times I thought of you – wondering where you are and there were not any new posts, thus, I felt you were taking a hiatus from the blog. Thought of emailing you – then I also did not wish to impose on your solitude. Nevertheless, you have soooooooo much been missed.
Never for a second be nervous of writing — whatever you write – sense or nonsensical, you have my 100% support and admiration for anything you write. Just….write. A blogger-friend I so cherish in you. Take your time to write on your blog — it is your space — and it is our / my joy to visit you. Am very proud of the lovely soul that you are. Many hugs. Shaheen
Dear Shaheen, you have me speechless from your intensely kind words! You can email me anytime. We did receive some devastating news in October, which paralyzed me from writing or doing anything that wasn’t a necessity. I’ll tell you over email, but I don’t wish to publicly disclose it here. Towards the end of the year, the shock had faded and we had a wonderful holiday with my family and Dad, but missed Mom. Now the new year has begun and it’s like a new bud blossoming, full of hope and much room for miracles. That is why I’m able to write again, I suppose. So…long story short…thank you so much! You are truly one of my best blogging friends and sisters…much love and many hugs to you!
What a lovely message ! Thank you my friend. Yes, I shall absolutely email you – do expect a letter in a day or two from me! And, you are equally one of my dear blogging friend, in fact, I am dropping “blogging” and take you as my friend. Hugs. Can’t wait to read another piece of writing from you !!! Ok…I know am being greedy, well, c’est la vie !
🙂
You’re dropping blogging? Well, I hope it wasn’t for devastating reasons like mine were and you will be missed. But, yes, email me anytime! Hugs! 🙂
No sweetie, I am dropping “blogging” as in you are NOT just a blogging friend, I have taken out blogging and would like to refer you as my friend. Absolutely, I adore you as “blogger” but you are my friend. I am still writing, dear Lauren ! Lol.
Oops, I’m over 50, so I had a minor senior moment! 🙂 I’m touched and think of you as the same, Shaheen! Thank you for the clarification! And I’m glad you’re still writing, too! Much love and blessings! xoxo
Well, at me almost 40 this year, I have already had bouts of senior moments thus-far! 🙂
Come visit Toronto – we can sit together and have senior moments and laugh about them after over a glass of red ! or coffee! Lol. xoxoo
Oh, you’re just a baby! Not even 40; I’m definitely jealous! 🙂 And your idea sounds wonderful; who knows, maybe someday…xoxo
I miss you, Lauren and I’m so happy to see you again. I hope you are feeling and healing better too. Take your time, dear friend, I wish you warm, sunny days ahead. Love and tight hugs, Cynthia
I missed you, too, Cynthia, and it really felt strange being away, but I was mentally paralyzed…things are stable, which is good and we can only pray for miracles in our future. Love ya and have a wonderful weekend, Sis! xo
Very Nice.
Thank you!
This is lovely. I have been here. Through the sadness we grow. ❤ Hearts are amazing things. xxx So glad you are back.

You can count on it for sure :).Have a beautiful ,sunny and inspiring weekend 🙂
“Maybe down the road
our lives might chance to mingle
and we could feel that hold
Just a slight tingle again.”
Though I wish that tingle doesn’t resonate to pull me back to the once beautiful past I’ve always wanted forget.
I’m not sure if I should thank you or apologize, Tinemagpayo! But I do thank you for visiting and commenting…sometimes, things happen that do bring us back to the past. Unfortunately, some memories are better forgotten, and eventually, they are erased because new good memories take their place. 🙂
