It doesn’t take a frying pan
to hit me on the head
I get how you feel
I heard what you said
It’s not that I’m dense
and my ears work just fine
I had hoped you were different
and not just a swine
I’ll get by, though
Life won’t stop for me
I know I’m special
even though you won’t see
You didn’t know
a good thing
when you had it
Well, that’s fine
it’s time for us to split
So have a good life
C’est la vie
If you change your mind
don’t come lookin’ for me!

I thought I’d have a little fun,
reminiscing on past “loves” worth forgetting.
Can any of you relate?
I hope I’m not alone!
🙂
LOVE!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Val! This was a fun one! Glad you liked it! 🙂
I can so relate! Love it btw 🙂
Thanks, PJ! I’m glad I’m not alone! 🙂 xx
Oh yeah… I can relate! Well written.
Aww…thank you so much! At least the past is in the past! 🙂
Hehehe, I can relate too – great poem, Lauren! 🙂 xoxox
I’m glad this made you laugh, Julie, and sorry you can relate, but now we’re all together in one big happy group! Thanks so much for your kind complement, my friend! This one was fun! 🙂 xoxoxo
I can relate – met her at last year’s school reunion. I didn’t know it then – but last year, I was so glad she had dumped me. Watching how life had embittered her – can’t help feeling a little sorry for her.
What a happy man I am now 🙂
I can tell you’re a happy man, Eric, and isn’t it ironic how we have to be in the future to understand the past, sometimes? 🙂
I meant to say – I’m happy for having met and married Lisa 🙂
I knew what you meant and I’m glad you found true love in Lisa. Thanks for stopping by, my friend! 🙂
The frying pan made me smile, so true! You are definitely not alone in feelings like this.
Dont come back looking, swines! 😉
Thanks, Chatty Owl, the frying pan came to mind and I knew I had to do something with it, comical, that is! 🙂 And swine, well, it worked, too! Thanks so much for your comment and I’m glad I’m not alone! It’s great to be part of a big happy group! 🙂
Absolutely! It made me smile and i thought “how right is this?!”
Well, im always happy to stumble across your playground here, so im looking forward to your new pieces and new adventures for us to dwell our eyes in 🙂
Aww..thanks, you are too sweet! I’ll be heading over your way soon, too! 🙂
Sounds so familiar! 😉 When I saw the first line, it immediately reminded me of ‘Tangled’… Or am I the only one in that? 😉
Well, I need to listen to that song again, because I’m drawing a blank! I will, though, because I can’t wait to hear the similarities! I’m sure you’re not alone, either! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
It’s not a song, but a movie 😉 ‘Tangled’ from Disney… The main character (Rapunzel) has the tendency to hit strangers on the head with a frying pan (including Flynn, the other main character)… So that’s why the first lines reminded me of it ^^
Oh my gosh, okay, sorry! I knew it was a movie, but I thought you were talking about the “movie song.” I haven’t seen it, yet. I know my daughter did and loved it. Now i get it! Thanks for clarifying and have a great weekend! 🙂
Haha, no problem… I wasn’t entirely clear either… 😉 It’s indeed an amazing movie! You should really see it some time… Have a great weekend as well! 😀
This is brilliant Lauren! And oh howI relate!
I had a relationship when I was 15-18 years old and thought that was it. We both said it was for ever, when suddenly he dumped me!! He broke my heart in so many places I don’t think I was over it for years even though Id met who is my husband now. Well, last year (40years on) he got in touch with me via Friends Reunited online (I was in touch with a few old school friends and he found me) to say sorry, and it was the biggest mistake he had ever made!!! – Erm…sorry! Too late!
I wrote a poem about it; I think its in my book, called First Love..
❤HBL XXX
Thanks, Chris, and I can’t believe he said “sorry” after all these years? Swine? Hehe Oh well, it’s good that some things or people are in the past, isn’t it? I’ll look the poem up, too! I’m glad you liked this silly and sarcastic write! Many hugs! xoxo
Good poem, most everyone, had met a few wrongs before they finally met Mr or Ms right! “Such is life.”
Thanks so much, Wendell, and yes, I guess a “wrong” is just one of the stepping stones to true love! I remember a few and am so glad they’re in the past! Sending hugs and blessings to you and your family! xx
ha ha ha too good Lauren..good riddance
Hehehe, thanks, Soma! It was fun to write, believe me! 🙂
Love it!
Thanks, Charlene! 🙂 Have a wonderful day!
Bring on the independent attitude!! You go girl! 🙂
Well, this comes from experience a hundred years ago, but it’s a good attitude to have, right? 🙂 xx
Yes, I remember before Paul and I, it was horrific! xxx But all is well that ends well! 🙂
It’s good that our memories are in the past and that all is great now, Sharon! Thanks! 🙂
Been there… see http://wp.me/p2dyO6-bx “Life Salvaged”
I reread your poem and liked it even more than the first time. I love your different perspective and at least, those relationships are where they belong, allowing us to move on and to hopefully, find happiness! Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Steve!
Thanks Lauren. Glad you liked it. 😀
