A Turning of the Page

June 9, 2020

This past Tuesday, my husband and I
watched our daughter and fiance
exchange personally written vows
before saying, “I do.”
Their words were eloquent
and brought tears to our eyes.
The uniqueness of this ceremony
was the Zoom factor!
They have been together for 9 years
and engaged for almost 2.
Then came Covid-19 to disrupt everything.
Original plans had to be canceled,
and they decided to wait
for when large gatherings
could resume again.

After 3 months and many conversations,
they reached the same conclusion:
they just wanted to be married.
So, pressing pause for months
or even another year seemed senseless.

With the blessings of family and friends,
they pulled off a Zoom wedding
from Tennessee!
The ceremony was beautiful
and we joined in
from California
with no technological glitches.
We couldn’t be happier.
Was it ideal?
No, but they are now Mr. & Mrs.
and that’s what matters most.

When we get the green light
to throw a party, there will be
a big reception and replay
of their wedding vows.
So we can’t wait for that
exciting event!

It was refreshing to celebrate such a joyful occasion that gave us reason to “clink our glasses” and something positive to smile about.

Congratulations,
Steph and Ryan!
We love you!

To be fully seen by somebody and be loved anyhow –
this is a human offering that can border on miraculous.”

Simple Existence

I stare at this page,
milk white as the

blanketed ground
in winter’s staging.

Where are the syllables
to create
a mixture of magic?

I fear they have flown
to faraway places,
across desert dunes
and boundless oceans
and might not return
so that I may tell him
(again)
how irreplaceable he is.

Instead,
I’ll touch his lips
with mine
and steady myself
in the arms of a man
who is satisfied
with my simple existence.

Romantic musings from years ago for this Monday…
Wishing you a peaceful day.

Paradise

Tropical sunrise

I must be dreaming when I say
good-night to the moon
I’m wrapped in your arms
our loving cocoon
then each morning when I wake
I fall into your eyes
swimming in your oceans
with the heat of our own sunrise
and when you pull me in deeper
with your slow moving kiss
we travel to a new world
in this feeling of bliss

Kindness

Holding Daisies

Does your heart try
to please every soul
turn frowns upside down
dry tears and console

Do your eyes see the good
in everything around
in every person you pass
on the streets in your town

If the answer is yes
then you’re quite the friend
you have an abundance of love
to share again and again

Yet, you’re also at risk
to having your heart broken
because not all will agree
with your words spoken

So you do your best
for the common good
and hope all your loving actions
are truly understood
