A million miles away
I feel pain
from the horror I hear
Young faces with
soft brown eyes
wonder why
With muted breath
and a shocked system
they got what they wanted
Living in walls of fear
shedding endless tears

I feel the pain too.
Well written, Lauren!
Much love xo
Thanks, Deb…much love to you, too, my friend..xoxo
very intense
Thanks for your comment, Soumyav. If only the world would become more peaceful rather than intense…
very deep, emotional poem!
Thanks for your kind comment, Mihrank!
This is heartbreaking yet beautifuly written.
Thanks for your comment, Kim…I wish the world events were less heartbreaking, too.
Those brown eyes could know peace. Let’s hope they soon do. Thanks Lauren. Great work.
I’ll continue to hope with you, Jean, thanks for commenting and for your kind words..
It’s sad but unfortunately the reality for somebody ! It’s beautifully written though, Lauren 🙂

Events in the world are beyond sad, Naima, and I was feeling it all at the moment when I wrote this. Just a few words is all it took…I appreciate your kind comment. xx
Those walls of fear in Palestine, are actual concrete walls that separate them from the whole world. In the West Bank children are dying to go to the beach (which is only few hours far) and yet they’re not allowed to. Like their families in Gaza, they live on the beach and can’t do anything about it, they’re living inside this air prison waiting to be murdered and massacred every single day.
A great poem my friend. I love it.
Your words tug at my heart, too, Arwa…what is the answer? It’s all so very heartbreaking, but I do appreciate your complement…xx
It is heartbreaking and we can’t do anything about it, except talk about it.
Wow, this is beautiful, Lauren! ❤ Enjoy your weekend 😉 Xx
Thanks, Iris! I hope yours was good and that you have a great week now! 🙂 xo
A powerful and deeply felt poem Lauren; I think we all feel it. ❤️ Xx
Thanks, Chris; I’m sure we all do…♥ xo
Gripping writing, Lauren! Do you mind my asking what inspired this poem?
Thanks, Christy…all the unrest in the middle east and the recent murder of American Journalist, Jim Foley…I’m sure we’re all heartbroken, but I had one of many moments where it just got to me and so I wrote these few words…xx
Hi Lauren, thanks for explaining to me. Yes, there is much sadness and I also use words to work through it often.. I hope you have a nice, restful evening xo
Very powerful poem and heartbreaking… God Bless
Thanks, PJ, and maybe someday world events won’t be so heartbreaking..Hugs and blessings to you.
Yw, that would be a beautiful and lovely thing… Many Blessings:)
♥
You very welcome Lauren, I pray that day come thru very well and soon. Many hugs and Blessings to you. God Bless 🙂
Beautiful, if sadly, tragically, expressed, Lauren. I was only thinking last night how overwhelming all the violence happening around the world is, especially as it affects the most innocent (children and animals). Let’s believe that each thought, each word, each hope for healing and peace will eventually have some effect. XO ❤
Thanks so much, Diane, and I’m with you in believing….big hugs! ♥
